B.V.S.M.P - I Need You

B.V.S.M.P. were a U.S. hip hop group, formed in the 1980s. B.V.S.M.P. was short for Baby Virgo - Shocking Mister P, and the band consisted of Percy Nathan Rodgers, Calvin Williams and Frederick Eugene Byrd.

B.V.S.M.P. are best remembered for the hit single "I Need You", which became a worldwide hit in the summer of 1988. It spent 12 weeks on the UK Singles Chart, peaking at Number 3 in July 1988.[1] The background music and vocal was also sample on the hit dance song The Electric Slide.

Goldie Lookin Chain's 2004 hit "You Knows I Loves You" is, in part, based around "I Need You", containing many of the same lyrics, for instance "I'm after your heart/Oh don't you see" (which on the B.V.S.M.P. original, concludes with "I'm not out to get your virginity", and on the Goldie Lookin' Chain version becomes "and your three kids doesn't bother me"), and "What's it gonna take to get your attention?" (which concludes with "You keep my mind hanging in suspension" on the original, and on the Goldie Lookin Chain version concludes with "track suit, gold chain and seven inch erection").

B.V.S.M.P. are also mentioned by name in the track, "Roller Disco" on Goldie Lookin Chain's Greatest Hits album.

After One - Tom's Dinner (Rap Version)

Here's a bit of a story about the song Tom's Dinner

The "Tom's Diner" of the song is Tom's Restaurant in New York City, which was later fictionalized as Monk's Cafe in Seinfeld.[2][3]

The song is written as a simple first person vignette of someone stopping at an unnamed diner for a cup of coffee. The song notes the newspaper as well as two women, one who enters the diner and one who stands outside in the rain. The ringing of bells at a nearby cathedral cause the singer to reminisce on an unnamed companion and a picnic previously. When the coffee is finished, it is time to leave the diner to catch a train.
